Namrata Joshipura asked me to make a backstage video during her spring summer 2012 runway show. This is what came out of it. Im thankful to Surabhi and Shemaila for pushing me and of course Namrata for this wonderful opportunity.

A fashion Short:

I didn't really have a concept at the beginning. Was just keen on making something surreal and visually attractive. But as we got into it, i wanted to bring a fairy tale element to the video. Goldilocks being the fairy tale. The whole idea about going into a strangers house and losing yourself interested me. In the video, Arshia's character sort of transforms from this little inquisitive girl to an almost whimsical being. And you dont really know whats going on with her. I like to leave people guessing and for them to have their own interpretation of the story.

We were very particular about the clothes. We wanted looks to suit the different stages of her metamorphosis. Simple and subtle in the beginning, and more whimsical and fairy tale like towards the end.

I hope this film can inspire people and make fashion films more relevant in India.

'The Fashion Icons' story in the 3'rd issue of the LOVE magazine s/s 2010 is noticeable.

They've given out the jest of it in a sentence slapped on one of the pages that says

"We asked eight of the most beautiful women in the world, for their ages, their measurements and their opinions on their bodies". Although i did not like the word 'beautiful'.Successful would've been apt.

Loved a couple of shots of Natalia Vodianova and Lara Stone.Such pictures make me regret not being technically efficient in photography. Mert and Marcus do great portraits.

Rest of the pictures are boring.Or rather the subjects are boring.Kate Moss is boring

Sisley Palm Spring Advertising Campaign

This is classic Terry Richardson.Very subjective which I love.I see more stark colors this time though, when usually his palette is somewhat bland.Do not like the 'Sisley' name tag. Sources say, he does not use photo editing software or retouching, which if true, is attractive to me.The infamous white background is missing.

les enfants pleurent

This is a series of images titled 'End Times' taken by American Photographer,Jill Greenberg.
To create End Times, Greenberg gave lollipops to toddlers but took them back after several moments, provoking emotional outbursts. Greenberg used the images as a representation of American Politics and Society. Greenberg was accused of child abuse for the photo shoots.
I think the photos are honest and beautiful.There's a slight hint of Diane Arbus in them.


Greenberg also shot a series of promotional images for recording artist, Gwen Stefani's album 'The Sweet Escape" which is obviously inspired by her previous 'End Times' exhibition.
